About The Event

The weekend will be based on discursive reasoning and contemplative mediations on the nature of the Supreme Being. Using Eugene Hallidays collection of short writings "Essays on God" as a starting point, participants will be invited to explore wide ranging ideas about what God is and is not, examining these both intellectually and as the basis of deep meditation.

Suitable for anyone who is interested in considered the nature of creation and ultimate reality beyond the limited concepts of material science and Sunday school derived images of the Supreme Being as an old man sitting on a white cloud.

No prior experience of meditation is necessary.

Please bring loose clothing suitable for seated meditation and outdoor clothing suitable  for walking in the countryside.

ABOUT THE RETREAT LEADERS

Rose Ann has taughgt  yoga and meditation for over forty five years and initially studied under Khen Ratcliffe at Tan-y-Garth Hall Retreat where she was introduced to Eugene Halliday’s teachings. She qualified as a yoga teacher with Howard Kent and has subsequently taught on a weekly basis in different locations around North Wales and internationally in Germany, Greece, Turkey, and Italy.

Derek Murray is an award-winning filmmaker and a Master of Screen Arts with distinction. He worked in film & TV in both the UK and USA before becoming a senior university lecturer in film and TV production. His association with Tan-y-Garth Hall goes back over forty years during which time he studied yoga and philosophy under Khen Ratcliffe and Don Lord. He is currently Secretary of the International Hermeneutic Society and General Secretary of Tan-y-Garth Hall Retreat.

Early booking is recommended for this event as Rose’s retreats at Tan-y-Garth Hall usually sell out.

COSTS

Residential participant - £215 (includes meals and refreshments plus 2 nights accommodation)

IHS & Rose Yoga Members £198 with discount

Non-Residential participant £145 (includes meals and refreshments only)

IHS & Rose Yoga Members £130 with discount.

£50 deposit with booking. Balance one month before the event.

Fees fully refundable in event of new government imposed Covid restrictions.

N.B. This is an IHS event. IHS events are run according to the traditional values and practices of the International Hermeneutic Society, the charity that owns and runs the Hall. Although IHS teachers are very experienced in their subject, they choose not to be paid. This means the events are offered at lower cost than most commercial retreats and all of your payment goes towards supporting the running costs of Tan-y-Garth Hall.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

In order to minimise the risk from Covid 19 we may have a range of policies in place for this event. These can include:

Temperature testing on arrival.

Limitation of numbers to allow for physical distancing.

One person per bedroom unless in same bubble (please contact us on 0300 302 1936 for room sharing request).

Extra ventilation where possible.

Outdoors work when possible.

Depending on prevailing circumstances we may also ask for : -

Current vaccination by all residential participants

Plus, either proof of a negative test within previous 48 hours or negative lateral flow test taken on arrival.
