About the event

During the weekend participants will experience many new and wonderful ways to relax focusing on the mindfulness teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh including, peaceful breathing, mindful walking and gentle movement through Tai Chi & Yoga. 

'Thich Nhat Hanh always teaches mindfulness within the context of ethics. With the energy of mindfulness comes mindful consumption, mindful relationships, and ethical livelihood. Suitable for all ages.

Please bring loose clothing and indoor shoes.

COSTS

Residential participant - £180 (includes vegetarian meals and refreshments plus 2 nights accomodation)

IHS Members £160

Non-Residential participant £115 (includes meals and refreshments only) - IHS Members £100

£50 deposit with booking. Balance due two weeks before the event.

Fees fully refundable in event of new government imposed Covid restrictions.

N.B. This is an IHS event. IHS events are run according to the traditional values and practices of the International Hermeneutic Society, the charity that owns and runs Tan-y-Garth Hall Retreat. Although IHS teachers are very experienced in their subject they choose not to be paid. This means the events are offered at lower cost than most commercial retreats and all of the fees go to support the running costs of Tan-y-Garth Hall.

About the Teachers

Betty Nesbitt's interest in the physical and spiritual aspects of Yoga has spanned over 45 years. She qualified as a Yoga teacher in 1985 with a diploma from the Comprehensive School of Yoga and subsequently taught widely on the Wirral after becoming inspired by Gordon and Pam Smith of Faith House and other yoga teachers. She later gained a diploma in Remedial Therapies which she used to help students with their yoga work. She is passionate about all aspects of Thich Nhat Hanh teachings of Mindfulness and bringing people to Tan-y-Garth Hall Retreat to experience, for themselves its diversel teachings in beautiful, natural surroundings. She also support Tan-y-Garth Hall Retreat as a managing trustee.

James Lanyon is a Shropshire based full-time teacher of both Tai Chi and Chi Gung. He studied from the early 1980s with Bronwyn Hipkin in Cambridge and later with Dee Swift and John Bolwell of Lakes Tai Chi and has taught since 1993.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

In order to minimise the ongoing risk from Covid 19 we have a range of policies in place for this event. These include:

Confirmation of current vaccination by all residential participants (please phone 0300 302 1936 for latest details).

Plus, either proof of a negative test within previous 48 hours or negative lateral flow test taken on arrival.

Temperature testing on arrival.

Limitation of numbers to allow for physical distancing.

One person per bedroom unless in same bubble (please contact us on 0300 302 1936 for room sharing request).

Extra ventilation where possible.

Outdoors work when possible.
