About the event

This two-part talk held over two consecutive weeks, is based on a lecture Eugene Halliday gave in Liverpool during the 1960's which was recorded by the late Khen Ratcliffe (founder of Tan-y-Garth Hall Retreat) and later made available as an audio cassette recording entitled "Levels of Being" edited by Richard Milligan and published as part of the International Hermeneutic Society (IHS) Sound Archive.

In his lecture Halliday presents an ancient skeleton framework to help us understand and relate many seemingly disperate ideas into a concrete whole and experience them embodied within us. Ideas such as; the great chain of being, prodigality in the material world, the body's chakra energy system and the spirit /body dichotomy.

During this short course we will be working with the transcription of the original  lecture and discussing the ideas at the back of it. In particular the ‘graph’ of ‘Levels of Being’ that Halliday uses,…
