YOGA - Fundamental Principles & Traditional Practice with Lynne & Richard Samuel Perry
(IHS event) Traditionally, Yoga postures were practiced slowly and meditatively in order to encourage the practitioner to bring the power of ‘presence’ to the practice and feel its value not only in practical sessions but also in everyday life.

About the event
This weekend’s event has its foundations in traditional Yoga. We will be referring to the ancient texts of the Bhagavad Gita, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the work of Eugene Halliday to guide us in our studies and practice.
The Yoga postures we will be incorporating into our practice over the weekend, were taught by Khen Ratcliffe co-founder of the IHS and Tan-y-Garth Hall and were firmly rooted in fundamental principles and practice of traditional Raja Yoga, the “Royal Way”, one of classical Yoga pathways. Please bring loose, comfortable clothing for the posture work, relaxation and meditation.
Lynne Samuel – Perry spent many years studying Yoga in India and Europe. Since returning to the UK she has continually taught Yoga as her primary vocation my recently as proprietor of The Yoga Centre in Oswestry which she runs with her partner Richard. She was introduced to the work of Eugene Halliday in the early 1980s through Khen Ratcliffe at Tan-y-Garth Hall. Richard similarly in the early 1990s. Richard gained a Master of Philosophy degree in 1988 and has worked in many organisations to promote individual and organisational meta-centres based on Eugene Halliday and Fred Freeman’s ideas of which both the Yoga Centre and Tan—Garth Hall Retreat are examples.
